Kindergarten Update May 11, 2010
There will be a lottery today in the SHS Cafeteria for the Jenkins/Wampatuck Shared Classroom at 3 pm.
Kindergarten Update May 4, 2010
On May 3rd School Committee voted 5-0 on a full-day kindergarten option resulting in an additional 2 classrooms of 22 students each. The plan is for the children on the waiting list from the March 22 lottery to be placed into a full-day k classroom. Hatherly and Cushing will share a classroom that will be located at Cushing and children from Jenkins and Wampatuck will share a classroom at that will be located at Jenkins. Transportation is available.
What this means...
If your child is on the waiting list from the March 22 lottery there are full-day kindergarten spaces available for them. SPS will be contacting you to confirm your child's placement in one of the shared classrooms. If you choose not to place your child in one of the shared classrooms he/she will be placed into a half-day classroom in your home district.
Confirmation and deposit must be delivered to the Superintendent's Office no later than 4:30 pm on May 10th. No Exceptions.
If you have not registered your child for kindergarten yet, you must fill out registration forms and a kindergarten choice form (available in Kindergarten Forms below and at all elementary schools). These forms along with a deposit must be delivered to the Superintendent's Office no later than 4:30 pm on May 10th. Your child will be on the waiting list.
If you would like to move your child from half-day kindergarten into a full-day program and have already registered your child you must contact Heather Dwyer at hdwyer@scit.org or 781-545-8759, x311 no later than 4:30 pm on May 10. Your child will be put on the waiting list.
If the number of people interested in full-day kindergarten exceeds the remaining full-day kindergarten spaces a second lottery will be held on May 11 at 3 pm in the SHS Cafeteria.

The Full-Day Kindergarten Lottery will take place on March 25, 2010 at 3:30 pm in the SHS Cafeteria. All are welcome to attend however you need not be present in order for your child to be placed into a FDK classroom.

Location: Your local district school.
All children who will be five years of age before September 1, 2010 are eligible for Kindergarten. Registration is not complete unless birth certificate and current medical forms are included.
Parents may come to school office between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to register their child.
